Two suspected robbers whisked away to Area G

Two suspected robbers were handed over to the Area G Command today (Thursday), around 3am, after being apprehended by the security personnels on Abanikanda Street, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos.

The suspects who were arrested with a motorcycle without plate number and local charms at about 2am were later whisked away for further investigation by the police on the invitation of the Head of Security, Chief Olusegun Adetokunbo, popularly known as Ẹlẹ́kùnmẹfà.

During interrogation, one of two suspected robbers said they came to sell smoke for a customer, residents of Ebunoluwa Street, but efforts to corroborate the claim proved abortive as no one came to the suspects aid at the acclaimed compound during an instant visit.

The HoS revealed that the suspects were on two motorcycles. One of the motorcycles escaped with two persons while the other was arrested with another two.

“This is how they operate with motorcycles at night, most especially in this raining season, when people will be enjoying their sleep. They move from one place to another with “okada” and burgle people’s properties if they observe there is no security around.

“We took them to the said abode where they claimed to sell smoke to someone but they were denied. They however offered us money to release them before we called the police”, he said.

Ẹlẹ́kùnmẹfà thus solicits the support of the residents to make raincoats available for the security operatives for more effectiveness during this season.
