In a telephone interview with People & Politics, Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Ondo State, Ojo Oyewande denied that All Progressives Congress and Akeredolu’s government has anything to do with the fire incident at INEC’s office. Oyewande said his party got all it takes to win the election thus, they can’t perpetuate such evil.
Q. Sir, I would like to get your comments about the inferno that gutted the INEC office, because there have been accusations and pointing of fingers, most especially to your political party, All Progressives Congress, so I would want to get your comment.
A. Don’t you think that it is foolish of anybody to think that APC which has all it takes to win an election will sponsor the burning of INEC? I think it is preposterous of anybody to think of that.
Q. But this fire incident came barely four weeks to the governorship election, don’t you think that will cause havoc to the conduct of the election? Because people are insinuating…
A. (Cuts in) There is no havoc it will cause, you’re a journalist, I’m also a journalist, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, said it will not affect the conduct of the election in Ondo State.
Q. Available information indicated that about 5,000 card readers has been affected, don’t you think that will have any effect?
A. Since those who have the responsibility to conduct the election have said that it would not affect the conduct of the election, so what do you expect me to say?

Q. Are you saying you didn’t sense any foul play concerning the fire?
A. How can I sense any foul play? If there is any foul play, it didn’t come from APC or its government, we have everything to win the election. So what is the essence of sponsoring the burning of any equipment.
