Manchester City winger, Riyad Karim Mahrez denied the Super Eagles of Nigeria a final place in the second semi-final match played between the Desert Warriors of Algeria and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Mahrez scored the winner in a keenly contested football match at the last seconds of the four minutes added time, dashing the Super Eagles hope of claiming the tournament for the fourth time.

The Algers claimed their first goal courtesy of an own goal scored by William Troost-Ekong at the 40th minute. While Odion Ighalo scored an equalizer for Nigeria, through a penalty kick at the 72nd minute, after the Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama confirmed it from a video assistant referee (VAR).

The Eagles hope was however dashed at the 95th minute when Mahrez scored from a free kick position which was awarded against Nigeria, right outside the 18yard box.

The final place is now set between the Algerian side and the Senegalese. Nigeria will battle for the third position with the Tunis.
