Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has expressed pleasure in the appointment of Ibrahim Gambari, as President Muhammadu Buhari’s new Chief of Staff.

Sulu Gambari thanked Buhari for considering the Kwaran. He said Ibrahim Gambari will justify his appointment, which he described as credible by “outstanding contributions, administrative experience, scholarship and excellence which he would inject into the Buhari-led government towards ensuring good governance, democratic dividends as well as shared prosperity in the nation”.

Those earlier speculated as a possible replacement of the former CoS, Abba Kyari, were Babagana Kingibe, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs, Hammed Alli; and education minister, Adamu Adamu.

On the other hand, Nigerians were stunned with the news of a retired diplomat, Ibrahim Gambari, on Tuesday, as the new Chief of Staff to the President.

However, Gambari, was said to be “awaiting an official letter of confirmation.”

In a statement by the aide of Emir of Ilorin, Abdulazeez Arowona, Sulu-Gambari described the appointment as “a great honour” to the entire people of Ilorin and Kwarans at large.

Congratulating Gambari on the appointment, the emir wished him a successful tenure in office.
