
A High court in Port Harcourt has sentenced a murderer uncle, Ifeanyi Dike, who killed an 8year old girl Chikamso victory in Port Harcourt in 2017 to death by hanging. His accomplice will equally die by hanging.
A one year jail term will be served by the dismissed Police Sergeant, Jonhbosco Okoronze under whose watch Ifeanyi Dike initially escaped from custody at the Police Criminal Investigation Department before he was re-arrested in Jos.
Justice Adolphous Enebeli gave the ruling in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
Ifeanyi Dike, uncle to the deceased Chikamso Victory Nmezuwuba, killed her and was said to have removed her body parts for alleged money ritual. Dike confessed to the police during interrogation, after his arrest that he was sent by one Ugochukwu Nwamiro, the second accused person to get body parts for money ritual.
Police officers attached to the Okporo Police Division arrested the suspect, as he was going to dispose the body of his victim. He was arraigned before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of Port-Harcourt High Court by the police. The state government later took over prosecution of the case, to ensure justice is properly served
The murderer uncle escaped from police custody with the aid of a police officer, but was rearrested in Jos, Plateau State. This was after the Rivers State Police Command promised to give the sum of N1 million to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest.
