Kaduna village head arrested for kidnapping

A Village head in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna, has been arrested by the State Police Command, for his alleged involvement in kidnapping.

The village head, Samaila Luka was paraded among 39 other suspects by DSP Yakubu Sabo Abubakar, Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, on Thursday.

The police also paraded suspected kidnappers of eight members of Engravers College, comprising two teachers and six female students. As well as another gang that killed two abductees, after collecting N2.8m ransom.

DSP Abubakar held that the Village head of Ungwan Luka works with the kidnappers. He alleged that he divulges information to the kidnappers while he shares from the proceeds.

The police disclosed that the kidnappers killed an abducted policeman after taking a ransom.

Luka however denied all allegations levied against him. He said he never worked with the kidnappers but had been paid twice while he helped the people to take ransom to them thrice.

So far, he claimed to have received the sum of N150,000 from the kidnappers. The amount, he was given on his first and second mission, at N100.000 and N50,000 respectively.

He noted that the money was just a reward and he knows nothing about the death of the police officer. Luka stated that after taking the ransom to the kidnappers, which was his third mission, the daredevil kidnappers refused to let the officer go.

“All efforts proved abortive as I begged them, alongside the policewoman. They said the officer used to insult them they even threatened to seize my phone. The police woman that was released can also bear me witness”, he said.
