There has been distress calls to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) by its teeming customers to quickly rectify what could be the problem as efforts to load purchased token for some days now has been unsuccessful.
People & Politics gathered that the distribution company started upgrading its Standard Transfer Specification (STS), with notice to all her customers some months back.
A link was sent out to enable her customers to key in necessary details with their National Identification Number (NIN) for this purpose. However, customers who spoke with People & Politics stated that there was not enough publicity to this effect.
IKEDC eventually extended the upgrading deadline beyond the earlier stated November 1st 2023 deadline.

But as at few days ago hitherto, People & Politics gathered that customers are finding it difficult to load their token.
In an interaction with some of the victims, they claimed they have done the upgrading, even before deadline, but can’t understand why the key pad is not allowing a successful input of token.
“I could check other details with the key pad, as a matter of fact, I was able to do virtually everything, but loading the token. For an entire day, I tried unsuccessfully. As I speak with you, my house is in total darkness, thanks to Ikeja Electricity”.
Another complainant said, “It is not funny and very unfortunate that at this age, a whole distribution company is unable to resolve her internal problem, and this is happening at the expense of her customers.
“If we don’t have money to recharge, it will be a different thing. But to purchase a token of almost N25,000 and still not be able to load it is making one crazy. As I speak with you, I have been running generator for two days.
“I tried to call the customer care line times without count to no avail, it is so depressing.”
