The Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State, has lost two of its students to drowning and road accident.

The institution’s spokesman, Habibu Matazu confirmed the development.

According to him, a 100-level Physics and electronics student, Suleiman Aliyu drowned while swimming at Dutsinma Dam.

It was reported that Aliyu and some other students had gone to the Dam to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary when the incident occurred.

He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Another student whose name was given as Nana Firdausi Mustapha also died in a road accident along Kankara Road.

Nana was a student in the Department of Microbiology of the institution.

She was said to be travelling along with other students to the permanent site of the university when the accident occurred.

Her remains had also been buried in Dutsinma cemetery

The University spokesman said the institution was in mourning over the incidents.
