The Federal Government has announced the suspension of the planned Ruga settlement project.
Three governors are expected to brief the State House correspondent today (Wednesday) on the suspension of controversial RUGA, People & Politics has learnt.
The governors are currently meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Two of the governors expected to brief are Kayode Fayemi and Dave Umahi of Ekiti and Ebonyi States respectively.
Presidential sources said that the suspension of RUGA followed the outcry of Nigerians against the programme.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Media aide, Bashir Ahmad confirmed the suspension on his verified Twitter handle.
He tweeted, “The Federal Government after consultations with stakeholders has suspended the RUGA Settlement Project, for now, Kebbi State Governor disclosed that after a meeting with Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.”
