It was a two packed event yesterday, Thursday as Alhaja Fatima Balogun, All Progressives Congress chieftain in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, was bestowed with the Iya-Adinni title, and Hon. James Adisa Owolabi, christened Jamaldeen by the Council of Chief Imams and Alfas, Ifako-Ijaiye/Ojokoro.
The event which was basically meant for the conferment of the Iya-Adinni title commenced with the arrival of Alhaja Balogun, popularly known as Faaji, and her entourage.
On her train was the Member House of Representatives, Hon James Adisa Owolabi, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Alhaji Onifade Akande, Hon. Murisik Balogun (Warrior), Hon. Tunde Balogun among other personalities.
The council implored Faaji to live up to expectations with a positive legacy, as the first recipient of the noble title, Iya-Adinni, noting that posterity will speak long after her tenure.
As the first, she was beseeched that whatever she does will be emulated by those coming behind her, thus, the council earnestly asked that she should make the office well-deserving.
Responding, Faaji appreciated the council for the honour. She acknowledged that this is the first title she will be subscribing to after many offers from different quarters. She however solicited for the support of the council and all Muslims, morally, spiritually and otherwise.
Meanwhile, Hon. Owolabi whose presence was a booster for the event was ably recognized and appreciated by the council. The Council Chairman, Imam Ismail Abayawo thus announced that after consultations with the members, they deem it fit to christen Hon. Owolabi with the name Jamaldeen, meaning “Beauty of the religion (Islam)”.
In his words, Owolabi appreciated the body for the support during electioneering and the honour done to Alhaja Balogun with the Iya Adinni title. He also asked for further support as the MHR of the constituency, assuring them of befitting stewardship.
The President of Muslim Community, Alhaji Abd’Mutalib Orire Oyedeji, who also doubles as the Baba Adinni, congratulated Alhaja Balogun, and prayed that God should grant her wisdom, strength and all endowment to deliver in that office as they will be steering the wheel together as Baba and Iya Adinni respectively.
He however thanked Owolabi for the gesture he extended towards the Muslim Community during Sallah.
Adeyemo Akeem, Coordinator for Muslim Youth Organisations, Ifako-Ijaiye who also graced the event congratulated Alhaja Balogun and wished her success.
