The students of Delta Polytechnic, Ozoro, have been banned from wearing face caps by the management.
Prof. Job Akpodiete, Rector, Delta Poly, averred last weekend immediately after he instructed the burning of more than 5,000 face caps that were seized from students.
Mr. Thomas Ojuye, Dean of Student Affairs, who represented Akpodiete, and supervised the burning stated that the decision was taken to check what he described as “indecent dressing” among students on campus.
In his words, “The management took to an advice that students of the institution, should henceforth dress in an acceptable manner, both to the institution and the public.

“Thus, the use of all manner of caps by students on campus has been banned,” he said.
He further revealed that the security had been mandated as a matter of importance to destroy seized caps henceforth.
The rector disclosed that the institution in recent years, has witnessed relative peace and cult-free academic environment.
This, he described as the product of conscientious and proactive measures put in place by the management of Delta Polytechnic.
Chief Security Officer of the institution, Mr. Simeon Eduke, portrayed the Polytechnic as a peaceful institution, one of its kinds in Nigeria.
The destruction of the seized caps would serve as deterrence to incoming students of the polytechnic, Eduke said.
