Members of the All Progressives Congress and residents of Ojokoro LCDA, Lagos on Thursday, July 22, foiled an attempt to kidnap the party’s standard bearer of the July 24 local government elections, Hon. Hammed Idowu Tijani.

People & Politics gathered that some men in plain clothes were observed to have been trailing the council boss since Wednesday evening. And they struck early Thursday morning to abduct him, while they disguised themselves as police officers.
An inside source who is a party chieftain told People & Politics that the plain clothes men said they were under the instruction of a particular female Deputy Inspector General of Police (Abuja), whose identity was not disclosed to arrest HID.
When asked to provide a document to this effect, they could not. In the course of the heat some of the plain clothes men took to their hills while two were apprehended and detained at Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Station.
The source disclosed that later in the day, an unidentified CP from outside the state approached the DPO of Ijaiye Ojokoro Police Station in a bid to secure the release of the apprehended men.
“We have however alerted the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, Lagos PPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Lagos State Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde and other stakeholders in the state of this kidnap attempt because that is what they tried to do.
“And the man behind this abduction attempt is Dipo Okeyomi, popularly knon as Carry Go, who also aspired for the same office under the auspices of APC”, the source said.
Efforts to reach Dipo Okeyomi as at press time proved abortive.
